Looking for members to establish local branch of World Without Wars - any takers in Hong Kong?
No, after some consideration, we just went with what we have and instead of founding an entirely new (here in HK) organisation, we will work through the Humanist Association of Hong Kong.
we know have a website, courtesy of Raymond Lowe. We have translations into Chinese, traditional and simplified courtesy Katherine, we have promises of activities, so this coming week will ask people to start defining their activities.

Launch of World March in Hong Kong
Subject: Launch of World March in Hong Kong
Date: Sunday 7 December, 2008
Place: Cyberport, Arcade, Hong Kong Island
Venue: Earth Champions - Show & Tell event 11am to 3pm where a table was set up with Humanist Association of Hong Kong identity. Launching the Hong Kong World March (WM) initiative under the banner of Peace and Nonviolence.
Note: we were nominated (by Vonnie) and accepted as one among about 150 organisations and individuals in August 2008.
Journeyed from Lantau with neighbour Vonnie, Soul Artist, who will take part in the WM.
After stall set up met old friend Sannie Chan, Green Peng Chau Association - will take part in WM with her project of building a sustainable development community on Peng Chau Island under the theme of Peace and Nonviolence.
After group photo shoot nabbed VIP Prof. (Engineering) Ku Suen Fai, chairman, Hong Kong Overseas Chinese Chamber of Commerce (Representative on National People’s Congress), and informed him of WM. He came over to our table and thanks to interpreter Vicky, listened to details of WM, and said “get in touch if he can do anything”. Interesting from the point of view of mainland China.
Vicky the acting interpreter for the day accepted a Humanize Hong Kong book.
Bobsy of Life Café fame took interest and said bring our humanist books to his Hong Kong Island
Peter Lloyd of Holistic Hong Kong came over and said send details of the WM to him and he will place same on their website - eZine.
Judith Mackay - who is familiar with Bangladesh - took interest in WM and wants to be kept informed.
Lucian Gambarota - his company is called MotorWave Limited, works in conjunction with HKU and has a wind power generation project at Hong Kon g Sea School and WWF Hong Kong. Has teamed up with Guangdong factory for production as financial crisis has resulted in spare factory capacity and that other firm wants to keep its men working. He works together with:
Christian Masset, chairman Clear The Air charity - who wants to be part of WM.
Feini Tuang - lives in Ma Wan expressed interest and wants to be kept informed.
Joan Yiu (Yiu Man Wai), Joan reporter with Eat and Travel Weekly - of Next Media - wants to kept informed personally to see where she can join with WM.
Ambassador Maudeen M Alaskary, consul general of Saudi Arabia - wants to be kept informed. He said WM cannot apply in either China or Saudi Arabia. I said but it is going to happen in Palestine and Israel and the rest of Middle East I don’t know, I will check.
Catherine Nicol - photographer of the day - is talking of a photo exhibition in relation to WM.
Benny C T Liu, project Manager Far East Landfill Technologies Ltd - functioning plant for methane extraction from landfills. Wants to know how his outfit can join WM.Welcome for plant tour.
Alan Stewart, chairman, MultiMind Solutions - facilitator. He lives Discovery Bay (Lantau) and can serve to introduce people there for WM.
Andrew Jones - Guardian - Sanctuary Resorts - eco tourism, interested in Bangladesh. Says, send information of WM.
I gave a short talk on WM, under ten minutes. No visuals. The organisers of the day, Fiona Mathews, CEO and Founder of Earth Champions scheme also took interest and wants further information as everything develops.
Conclusion
People readily take interest in the WM project, easily fit in the theme of Peace and Nonviolence. They readily leave contact details and express feeling for participation even if unsure how exactly.
Next step.
Send each contact basic info and some personal message relating to their angle of interest. Following replies to that contact, publish simple newsletter to begin circulating among all those expressing interest and telling each of the other’s views, plans etc.
